This position sits within The Network Services Team who are responsible for maintaining the safe and efficient operation of our network for our customers. Our focus is to ensure the network meets our customers' needs on a day-to-day basis by utilising all the sustainable technology available in order to do this.
The Role
Based in Te Kuiti, this is a full-time, permanent role, working 40 hours a week Monday to Friday with an hourly rate ranging from $44 per/hour - $50 per/hour dependent on experience. There are opportunities to earn additional income through overtime, allowances and the compulsory participation in the 24-hour callout roster, which is one week in every four weeks, therefore you need to live on the network.
Your main duties will include but not limited to:
- Complete proactive and corrective maintenance as scheduled in work plans
- Maintenance of 230V, 400V, 11kV and 33kV overhead lines and underground cables
- Wiring and servicing of network equipment
- Testing, adjusting and repair of substation equipment
- Secondary wiring, batteries and chargers
- Carry out switching as instructed by Network Controllers to assist in operation and maintenance of the network
- Accurately record completed switching activity into switching logs
- Construct new electrical reticulation in accordance with regulations, standards and policies
To succeed in this role, you must have:
- Level 6 Technical Certificate/NZCE or equivalent
- EWRB electricians’ registration and current practicing licence (minimum EWRB limited registration)
- Minimum of three years’ experience as a power technician and a registered electrician
We are looking for a good all-rounder with knowledge of industry safety requirements, relevant electrical trade competencies, the ability to lift weights up to 20kg, a Class 1 driver’s license, strong problem-solving skills, a positive attitude, advocacy for health, safety, and wellbeing practices, demonstrable customer service experience, and advanced computer skills for testing specific and protection related software.
